Parents and Community
Parents of ESL students are linked to the school community by many means:
- Two or three times a year, parent-teacher conferences focus on the student's achievements and challenges in the classroom. Plans are formulated and programs are evaluated.
- At least once yearly, Learning Assistance Teams comprised of parents, teachers, ESL teachers and administrators meet to set goals for the student.
- Teachers and parents informally share throughout the school year to share information about the student's progress.
- The yearly Family Heritage Festival brings together parents and students with the wider Windham community. Crafts, performances, food and the sharing of family stories promote understanding and interchange among community members.
