
Betty Jensen McIntyre
graduated from Bristol High School in Bristol, South Dakota and received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Cum Laude - Music, Instrumental with Vocal from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota as a piano major, with trumpet and vocal minors. She has done graduate work at her alma mater, South Dakota State University, University of Southern Maine and the University of Maine. Her teaching experience includes teaching instrumental and vocal music grades 5-12 in Hitchcock, SD and teaching instrumental and vocal music grades 9-12 in Gettysburg, SD before moving to Maine in the early 1980's.
Ms. McIntyre has taught at Windham High School since January 1985, including various combinations of 5th grade beginning band, 7th-8th middle school bands, high school concert band, jazz bands, marching bands, pep bands, small ensembles, instrumental lessons, orchestra (one year only), piano class, guitar class and music theory. Her current schedule is teaching at Windham 3 days per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and includes the one period of high school band currently offered, two periods of basic piano lab (semester course), one semester of advanced piano lab (new in 2010) and one period of basic guitar lab.
Other musical accomplishments/professional responsibilities include limited instrumental festival conducting/adjudicating, running her very active Studio McIntyre (private lesson studio business), being organist/choir director for Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook, writing/arranging music for her different musical groups, and working occasionally as a professional accompanist.
