What is Title I?

Title I is a Federally funded program.  According to the U.S. Department of Education, "The purpose of this title is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and academic assessments".  More information about this program may be found here

What is RTI?

RTI stands for Response to Intervention.  According to the National Center on Response to Intervention, RTI "integrates assessments and intervention within a multi-level prevention system to maximize student achievement and to reduce behavior problems.  With RTI, schools identify students at risk for poor learning outcomes, monitor student progress, provide evidence-based interventions and adjust the intensity and nature of those interventions depending on a student's responsiveness, and identify students with learning disabilities."  More information may be found here.

How is Manchester Elementary implementing RTI?

Here at Manchester Elementary we are doing much to implement RTI.  We assess the students, gather data, provide interventions, check for improvement, and modify the intervention to fit the students' needs.  We strongly believe in doing what works to help all of our students learn and be successful!  So far this year, we have seen much growth in all of our students!  We are proud of our students here at Manchester Elementary School!

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.  This may also be referred to as School Wide-Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS).  According to the Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, PBIS provides "a decision making framework that guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavior outcomes for all students."  There are four parts to this which include data, measuring outcomes, practices with evidence, and a system of implementing these practices.  More information about PBIS may be found here.

What is ReadAbout?

According to Scholastic, ReadAbout is an "adaptive, leveled, nonfiction reading system...[It is] Designed to work seamlessly alongside [the] core reading program, ReadAbout uses the power of technology, high-interest nonfiction, and the best thinking about motivation..."  Students read nonfiction texts and then answer comprehension questions, learn new vocabulary, and interact with the reading.  ReadAbout allows for differentiated instruction to provide the best passages to fit each student's needs.  To learn more about ReadAbout click here.

What is Lexia?

Lexia is a phonics based program to help students practice reading.  According to the Lexia Learning website, "Students learn skills in sequence, logically building an understanding, while gaining competency and preparing for the next skill." More information about Lexia may be found here.
