Dear WMS Families,

I want to welcome you all to the 2017/18 school year at Windham Middle School. I am really excited for this school year as we continue to improve the experience and learning for all students at WMS. I am also excited to be working with Kim McBride who is the new assistant principal. Mrs. McBride was the Gifted and Talented teacher at WMS and brings a great deal of experience and devotion to students and the school.

I want to ensure that your child’s experience and yours is excellent while at WMS.  Communication is vital in our working relationship and for the benefit of your child. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or if you have concerns about your child’s programming. Email is the easiest way to reach me at apatin@rsu14.org.

Students in chorus will have a reading block two days per week and if your child is has an IEP they may be working on IEP goals during the reading block time. We will also offer small group reading blocks and math intervention for students needing additional support.

All WMS students will be issued a MacBook Air laptop computer that can be taken home, with parent permission and the purchase of school insurance ($40). Scholarships are available through the guidance department for students if there is a financial hardship. Laptops will automatically turn off at 10 p.m. each night and restart at 6 a.m.

Learning reports will be done through JumpRope just like last year. Student logins and passwords are the same as last year and new ones will be issued for families new to the district.

I am looking forward to working with you and your children this year!

Regards,
