What's New

 Welcome to Windham Middle School

Windham Middle School is pleased to welcome students and staff to the 2009-10 school year.  Another exciting school year is upon us as we all look forward to the challenges that a new year brings.

Windham Middle School is the home of students in grades 6-8.  Approximately 670 students and 85 staff members occupy the building at any one time.  Middle school students are entering a unique developmental stage.  Considerable change takes place from the time a student enters as a 6th grader and leaves as a teenager ready for high school.  It is exciting to be a part of their lives as they pass through this critical stage.

Windham Middle School is structured and organized to not only provide academic programming but to assist students as they experience emotional, psychological, intellectual and physical changes.  Our goal is to create schools within a school.  Each student is placed on a team ranging in size from 45/50 students.  These teams are serviced by 2-3 teachers who are quickly able to know their students and make strong connections with them.  In a short period of time, students understand that they are one of just a few instead of one of several hundred.  Teachers are hired to work at Windham Middle School who not only have command of their subject area, but understand the unique characteristics of the middle school child as well.

Parent involvement is critical at this stage and we welcome their desire and interest to be partners with us in the education of their child.  Please feel free to contact us at anytime to discuss your child, the school, and its programs.  We welcome your input.  The information on this web page will help you learn a great deal about our school.  Should there be something in addition that you need, please do not hesitate to contact us.
