DANCE POLICY- REGULATION #7325
1. Dances are restricted to Windham Middle School students ONLY.
2. Students will remain in the building. No one will be allowed to leave the dance without parental pick-up.
3. Fifty per cent lighting will be in effect at all times.
4. Students attending school dances are to conduct themselves in a manner suitable to the social occasion - refraining from displays of affection that are normally considered to be unsuitable for public display in the opinion of the chaperones.
5. In addition to police, there will be at least six chaperones in attendance, at least three of the six shall be staff members.
6. All chaperones - staff, parental, and otherwise - shall have the same authority.
7. There will be two police officers in attendance. One shall be a policeman. One shall be a police matron. The policeman will be stationed at the door and it shall be his responsibility to check incoming students for signs of drinking alcohol or using other intoxicants and/or the use or possession of narcotics or other illegal drugs. Students found to have been using or possessing any of the above will be helped by the police and the parents will be notified by the officer. The student will be picked up by the parents or will be held in police custody. The police matron shall check the dance floor on a regular basis. Both officers shall periodically check the bathrooms. The policeman shall make periodic checks outside the building.
8. Chaperones are to be held responsible for the activity of students. Students who are found to be uncooperative will have their names written down and turned over to the middle school assistant principal no later than the next regular school day.
9. No food or drink shall be allowed on the dance floor.
10. Coats or outer garments shall not be worn on the dance floor. All coats are to be left in an area designated by the chaperones.
There will be no more than four dances per year. Each dance is subject to the approval of the Middle School administration.
